  • 23 July 2018, Amsterdam, the Netherlands: Religious leaders march through Amsterdam as part of their participation in the International AIDS Conference 2018, promoting access to testing and treatment for HIV, human rights, and the building of bridges, between faiths and between faith and other sectors for a coordinated HIV response. The 2018 International AIDS Conference, AIDS 2018, takes place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 23-27 July 2018. The event brings together people from around the globe, including a wide range of medical expertise, researchers, pharmaceuticals, governmental and non-governmental organizations, faith communities and faith-based organizations as well as other civil society stakeholders and individuals, for days of learning, sharing and interaction.

  • Youth put on a play about gender-based violence during an October 11, 2019, ceremony for women graduating from a basic literacy program in Goma, a city in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo where rape is epidemic. The women are part of the Tushinde Ujeuri Project, which is supported by IMA World Health. It offers survivors of sexual and gender-based violence a new start on life, including helping them learn to read and write.

Among the crowd were more than 20 "Hibakusha", survivors of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as a range of activists, faith-based organizations and others who work or support work for peace, in one or another way.

Here, Kerje Vindenes from "No to Nuclear Weapons", one of the partners in ICAN. Vindenes has been active in the organization since the 80s, and he explains that through the 80s and the 90s, they were instrumental in mobilizing people across Norway against nuclear weapons.

  • On March 1st 2017 a march of indigenous people was held to commemmorate the assassination of indigenous Lenca leader Berta Cáceres. Lencas, Tolupans, Maya Chortís, Pech, Miskitos and Garifunas marched to the Supreme Court of Justice in Tegucigalpa.<br />

  • Honduran indigenous leader and environmentalist campaigner Berta Cáceres was shot dead at home by armed men on March 2nd 2016. Her case is emblematic, but it is one of over a hundred assassinations of environmentalist and indigenous leaders since the coup that ousted Mel Zelaya in 2009.  Her killing caused international outcry.

  • 27 October 2019, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: Sunday service at the Finfinne Oromo Mekane Yesus Congregation of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. In a context where congregations did not use to be allowed to hold their services in any language but Amharic, the congregation today is one of some 60 Oromo speaking Mekane Yesus congregations in Addis Ababa. The service takes place on the first Sunday following political turmoil in the country, claiming dozens of lives.
