Serving some of the poorest areas of Budapest, the parish in Józsefváros is an active congregation with regards to social work, and more than 100 people have volunteered to help organise and provide support for incoming refugees from Ukraine, following the beginning of a Russian invasion of the country on 24 February 2022. To avoid overcrowding as new refeugees arrive daily in Záhony, the centre allows people to stay only 1-2 days here. Consequently, the sleeping halls are near-empty around midday as people have moved on, but fill up again completely in the evenings.
