Fighting acid pollution from Bolivian mine
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadFreddy Llanos, a professor of mining engineering at Tomas Frias University, samples water quality inside the Kumurana Mine near Caiza D, Bolivia. The mine, which is closed, produces highly toxic acid runoff that negatively impacts the farms and lives of people living downstream. Llanos is working with an international coalition that is working with local miners and farmers to clean up the mine's runoff. Helping Llanos is Policarpio Montesinos, a local miner.
