Response to 2005 Pakistan earthquake

Shamin was seriously injured during the October 2005 earthquake that ravaged northern Pakistan, but with assistance from Church World Service she received medical care and was hospitalized for several weeks in Abbottabad. She then returned to the Shawal Najaf tent city run by CWS. Although most of her neighbors have gone home, she still lives at Shawal Najaf today, afraid of returning to her home in the mountains where landslides and further quakes endanger her life.
