Michael is a student nurse at the Catholic Health Training Institute in Wau, which trains nurses and midwives in the newly independent country. The Institute is coordinated by Solidarity with South Sudan, an international consortium of more than 200 religious congregations that trains teachers, health workers and pastoral personnel in several locations throughout South Sudan. Sister Dorothy Dickson, a member of Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions and director of the Institute, is kneeling beside the boy, who died the following day.
