Symbols of Hope Nigeria

17 September 2024, New Karo, Nasarawa state, Nigeria: Regina Abi, a beneficiary of church-run project Symbols of Hope, and her youngest daughter Freedom (11 months) pictured at their home in New Karo, from where Regina makes a living by selling firewood and charcoal – a business she has been able to set up through seed capital from Symbols of Hope. A project of the Lutheran World Federation implemented in Nigeria by the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, Symbols of Hope supports survivors of human trafficking, potential and returned migrants through the processes of documentation, psychosocial support and counselling, as well as skills training and livelihood support. Across activities focussed on both awareness-raising and capacity-building, Symbols of Hope targets three groups: pastors and churches, potential migrants, and returning migrants.
