Sam Kaurwiriyatrakun is an HIV positive woman in the village of Toong-sa-tok in northern Thailand. Seen here in her home, with pictures of the country's royal family on the wall behind her, she is a member of a women's cooperative, supported by the monks of the local Hualin Buddhist temple, which sews clothing for sale in Japan and other foreign countries, yielding important income for the women and their families.
