Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadRoman Catholic Father Thomas Bagbiowia (left) greets people standing in line at an electoral center in Nzara, in Southern Sudan's Western Equatoria State, on November 15, the first day of a 17-day registration period in preparation for January's referendum on secession from the country's north. Bagbiowia, the parish priest in nearby Riimenze, is a member of the local election commission and trained many poll workers. Voters are expected to choose overwhelmingly for independence. NOTE: In July 2011 Southern Sudan became the independent country of South Sudan.
