Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the children all came to Poland for refuge, and today attend school at the Albert-Schweizer School – a Lutheran primary and high school of 150 students and some 40 teaching staff in the city of Gliwice, Poland. Owned and run by the Lutheran Education Foundation in Gliwice, the school offers scholarships for refugee children from Ukraine to study at the school. Currently, 12 such scholarships are offered, 10 of which are sponsored directly by the Lutheran World Federation, covering tuition fees as well as daily school lunch free of charge for the children.
