Hillary Rodham Clinton meets refugee family from Uzbekistan
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadHillary Rodham Clinton greets Gulnora Altyeva at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Altyeve is the wife of Yusuf Juma, who stands in the background (with a hat), an environmentalist and poet in Uzbekistan who was imprisoned for his protest activities in 2007. His family was forced to emigrate, and the mother and five sons came to Louisville through the help of Kentucky Refugee Ministries. In a visit to Uzbekistan in 2011, Clinton secured Juma's release from the notorious Jaslyk Prison in northern Uzbekistan - which Mr. Juma describes as a death camp, and where he himself was tortured - and his entry to the U.S. Behind Clinton is Juma's son Djafkhar Yusupjonugli.
