Folded paper cranes hung at an entrance to the Itokazu Abuchiragama cave in Okinawa, Japan. During the Battle of Okinawa, the cave sheltered both Japanese soldiers and civilians who had been indoctrinated in the ideology of the Empire.
Folded paper cranes are a symbol of peace in Japan.
