Bringing in the catch in South Sudan

Add to Lightbox Download

Early in the morning, young fishers unload their catch of fish directly from their boat in Akobo, South Sudan.

Like several locations around the troubled country, the combination of fighting and flooding has worsened food insecurity, yet fishing remains a sustainable way of supplying food to hungry families and income to those who catch and sell the fish.

DanChurchAid, a member of the ACT Alliance, is helping families in Akobo with fishing hooks and twine for nets, along with other food and livelihood projects aimed at lowering vulnerability and increasing food security. It carries out that program in partnership with Nile Hope, a South Sudanese organization.
