Registration begins for Southern Sudan independence referendum
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadPeople stand in line to register in Nzara, in Southern Sudan's Western Equatoria State, on November 15, the first day of a 17-day registration period in preparation for January's referendum on secession from the country's north. Voters are expected to choose overwhelmingly for independence. NOTE: In July 2011 Southern Sudan became the independent country of South Sudan.
