Old man in Mosul

Qasim Yahia Ali, 75, displays the foot and leg of a body trapped in the rubble of his home in the old city of Mosul, Iraq. His house was destroyed during the 2017 Battle of Mosul, which led to the defeat of the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS. During control of the city by the Islamic State, he earned money by making clandestine liquor. In the wake of the war, he has moved back into the old city and lives in the ruins.
