Fixing gear after typhoon in Philippines
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadRoli Sikad checks his fishing gear on Malangabang, a small island near the Philippines city of Concepcion. The community was ravaged during the passage of Typhoon Haiyan, known locally as Yolanda, in November 2013. The storm surge swept over the whole community, smashing boats and rendering many nets unusable. Yet residents have rebounded quickly with help from the Philippine government and the international community. Sikad, who lost his left leg, is an active fisher and a member of the community's Persons with Disabilities (PWD) group.
