Olga came to Poland as a refugee from Voznesensk in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine in March 2022. Today, she lives with her husband, daughter and granddaughter in a dormitory at the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland parish in Bytom, where she also works as a cleaner to earn an income. In Ukraine, Olga worked in sales at a bakery and bread factory. In the church dormitory, each part of the family has their own room, and they share a kitchen and playing room for children in the building’s basement with a couple of other refugee families. Olga’s two sons stayed in Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion, which started in February 2022. One of them has died in battle.
