Couple raises goats in postwar Sri Lanka
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadAnnaletchumi Velayutham and her husband Velayutham Sinnaih hold their goats as they talk with Ratnaswamy Muthukumar in the village of Karadianaru, Sri Lanka. The couple was displaced during Sri Lanka’s bloody civil war, and when they moved back home after the fighting ended, a church group loaned them two goats. Three years later, they have over 30, and they’ve sold several goats to finance the expansion of their simple house and buy better seeds for their farm fields. They’ve also paid the loan off. Muthukumar is a development consultant to the Church of the American Ceylon Mission.
