Her Kokama indigenous family migrated to the city in 2018, but unable to find decent housing they could afford, they joined with other poor families to take over an unoccupied building--the Casa do Estudante--in the city center. Caritas, a ministry of the Catholic Church, has helped the families in their struggle.
