Amy Alferez is a survivor of human trafficking in Malaysia, where she worked as a domestic worker. Now back home in Manila, in the Philippines, she earns money for her family in a burger stand she started with assistance from the Batis Center for Women. Alferez is a member of Batis Aware, a group of women, most of whom are survivors of human trafficking, which works to provide support and education to Filipina women caught up in trafficking or vulnerable to exploitation by traffickers.
