Poisoned banana workers protest
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadA woman prepares a meal in a camp in Managua of some 3,000 former banana workers who have been poisoned by Nemagon (dibromochloropropane). Camped out across the street from the Nicaraguan National Assembly, the workers are pressuring the government to provide health care and support their legal actions against US companies which manufactured and used the pesticide. Nemagon is considered a risk factor for cancer, kidney failure, acute respiratory disease, heart attack, sterility, muscular atrophy, skin complaints, and other health problems. The tall building in the rear is the National Assembly.
