Add to Cart Add to Lightbox Download

Dr. Tom Catena (left), a Catholic lay missionary from the United States, awards Lakuwa Lokolo Rama his diploma as a registered nurse, during a ceremony at the Mother of Mercy Hospital in Gidel, a village in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan.

Rama studied for the diploma at the Catholic Health Training Institute in Wau, South Sudan, but after graduation returned home to his native Nuba Mountains.
The area is controlled by the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North, and frequently attacked by the military of Sudan. The Catholic hospital is the only referral hospital in the war-torn area.
