The Pangani Project of the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church is a project through which street children are offered comprehensive support including access to a home, education, as well as food and healthcare. Currently in its 27th year, the project started by the church offering street children free meals in the Pangani suburb of Nairobi, including bread and milk. It soon became evident that a more holistic approach was needed, and today the project supports a total of 116 children – although the number varies slightly from one year to the next – all of them young girls formerly living on the street.
