Alma Lopez begins to connect bamboo she has cut into strips in preparation of making woven mats, part of a livelihood project in the village of Malaigang Digkilaan in the Philippines. People here were left homeless by Typhoon Washi in 2011, yet today have rebuilt homes and recovered livelihoods, and reduced their vulnerability to future disasters, with assistance from the united Methodist Committee on Relief and the National Council of Churches of the Philippines, both members of the ACT Alliance.
