12 November 2022, Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt: Maina Talia from Tuvalu and other civil society representatives from the Pacific Islands chant 'We are not drowning, we are fighting', as many hundred people from a variety of civil society organizations and faith communities across the globe march through the venue of the United Nations climate change conference COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, calling for climate justice and urgent action on behalf of politicians and decision-makers to secure a just future for all, as the world is currently facing a climate disaster. The march, traditionally held on the Saturday halfway through the COP meeting in the city where COP is taking place and open for the public to join, was this time only held inside the closed perimeters of the COP venue in Sharm el-Sheikh. [Image captured on assignment for the Lutheran World Federation, whose member churches and partners can use it free of charge to report about the LWF’s work, with credit to ’LWF/Albin Hillert’ upon publication.]
