Yazidi children play football in a camp for internally displaced persons at Dawodiya in Iraq's Kurdistan region. More than 600 families living in the camp escaped from their communities in the Sinjar region during the attempted genocide by the Islamic State group. Although ISIS was militarily defeated in 2017, these Yazidi families say it's still not safe to return home, nor do they have sufficient resources to rebuild their homes.
The Lutheran World Federation, a member of the ACT Alliance, provides water, sanitation, garbage collection, and psycho-social support for the families in the camp.
