ACT Alliance team helps Libyans deal with unexploded ordnance
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadFred Pavey, a British explosive ordnance disposal technician, draws a circle around an unexploded hand grenade on June 16 at a university in Misrata, the besieged Libyan city where fighting raged for months and where civilians and rebel forces are now surrounded on three sides by forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Pavey works with the humanitarian mine action program of DanChurchAid, which is a member of the ACT Alliance. The group is concerned about the threat posed to the civilian population of the area by unexploded ordnance left over from the fighting. Pavey's team will soon return to the university to neutralize the threat posed by several grenades and other artifacts of war.
