Londolfo Aranha Neto and his wife Francineide Silva da Sousa were displaced by the flooding caused by the Belo Monte dam near Altamira, Brazil. As compensation they were given a house in Altamira, but felt it was cramped and stifling compared to the places where they lived before. So they have built a new house on land at the edge of the reservoir behind the dam. They pose on that home's veranda. The man still fishes the waters of the Xingu River, but the dam has disrupted the fish stocks, and he complains that flooded trees easily snag fishing nets.
