Melody Caling is a migrant worker from the Philippines who lives in the Ugnayan shelter in the Tanzi Catholic Church in Taichung, Taiwan. She came to Taiwan in 2019 but was injured in her factory job in 2021. Her employer denied any responsibility for the injury and kicked her out of the company dorm. She sought refuge in the church, which has sheltered her as church volunteers accompany her as she fights for her rights. Here she poses on her bed in the shelter.
