Remembering Hurricane Mitch ten years later
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadIn 2008, exactly ten years after Hurricane Mitch caused a mudslide on the slopes of Nicaragua's Casita Volcano that swept through two villages below, killing more than 2,000 people, Osmari Vanesa Ocejo of Posoltega reads the names on crosses that mark where some survivors believe their family members were buried alive. A ceremony to remember the dead was held on the slopes of the mountain on the anniversary of the tragedy. The still bare scar on the mountain in the background shows where the mudslide began.
