24 May 2022, Rostov-on-Don, Russia: Clothing and other items belonging to refugees staying at the Iversky Convent in northern Rostov-on-Don. Following the eruption of war in Ukraine, many refugees from the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine have taken refuge across the border in neighbouring Russia. A few dozen of them are currently offered accommodation and food at the Iversky Convent of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in northern Rostov-on-Don. The convent has adapted housing normally offered to pilgrims visiting the convent to serve instead as accommodation for refugees from Ukraine, most of whom are women and children. [PLEASE NOTE: This image was captured on assignment with the World Council of Churches and ACT Alliance, visiting Russia upon invitation from the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).]
