Pramila Kirubajhas (center) is proud owner of a small shop in Karadianaru, Sri Lanka. Once displaced by Sri Lanka’s bloody civil war, when she moved back home after the fighting ended, a church group loaned her money to open the store. Her profits have enabled her to pay for her children's education and improve the family diet.
With her are Sasikala Thavarasa (left) and Krishnaveni Puthisikamani. All three are members of a local women's empowerment group sponsored by the Church of the American Ceylon Mission, which provided the funding for her store.
