World Renew supports projects in this Q'ekchi' indigenous community including beekeeping. Here, a group of young trainee beekeepers listen to one of the more advanced beekeepers. Youngsters are also allowed to learn if they want to.

Members of the community are already beginning to sell honey, wax, propolis, and to make more hives as they learn.

The location of Nuevo Aurora in the jungle of Peten favours beekeeping, as long as the hives are a good distance from farms that use agrochemicals.
